Wedding Photography at the
Music Box Village
Weddings at the Music Box Village offer a truly one-of-a-kind, creative setting that feels more like an interactive art experience than a traditional venue. Tucked away in the Bywater, this whimsical collection of musical installations and handcrafted structures creates a playful, immersive backdrop for ceremonies and celebrations.
It’s perfect for couples who want something unconventional, where guests can explore, interact, and be part of the atmosphere, resulting in a wedding that’s vibrant, memorable, and completely unlike anything else in New Orleans.

I photographed my first wedding at Music Box Village back in 2018, and I’ve been back there many times since. It’s truly one of the more unique venues in the city. As a New Orleans wedding photographer, it’s one that always stands out.
I actually first came across it in City Park when they had a temporary setup of their instrument structures for musicians after JazzFest. Not long after, they moved into their permanent home in the Bywater and started hosting events. It’s been a great addition to the list of New Orleans weddings venues ever since.
The space itself is interactive. The musical structures are built to be played, which gives guests something to explore and keeps the energy moving throughout the day. It’s not your typical venue, and that’s part of what makes New Orleans wedding photography here so fun—there’s always something happening.
For portraits, there are a ton of options right inside the venue. Different textures, angles, little corners everywhere. And if you want to step away for something more minimal, the levee nearby is a great spot. Being in the Bywater also opens things up—I’ve met couples at Clouet Gardens for first looks and group portraits before heading over. It all stays close and easy, which is always a plus when working as a wedding photographer in New Orleans.
As far as weather goes, it is an outdoor venue, but they’ve got solid backup options. I’ve seen them open up the warehouse space when rain was a possibility, which helps keep everything on track without losing the feel of the day.

Echoing what all the prior reviews say- professional, stylish, personable. We had an incredible experience with Gris Gris and are so happy with how our pictures turned out. He was timely, communicative, and organized and understood our style and vision perfectly. We found Gris Gris through a wedding website (rather than friend recommendations), so we asked a trusted photographer friend to look through his portfolio. She responded that we should book him right away, and we are so glad that we did!
They have a variety of packages to choose from, so their structure works for any type of event. Ahead of the wedding, Gris Gris helped us establish the best timeline for our ceremony based on sunset, and had an excellent set of planning templates to make sure everything went smoothly the day of.
We did a quick round of portraits before the ceremony and asked for lots of documentary-style photos during the ceremony and reception. The lighting and exposure were just what we wanted for the finished look. Gris Gris was super accommodating of the shots we wanted, flexible with our atypical ceremony, and were just all-around pleasant to work and spend the evening with. We got preview images within a couple of days and a clear timeline for the full batch of edited images.
We could go on forever, but in summary, we would wholeheartedly recommend Gris Gris for a wedding or any other event. Thank you so much

Traven was the best. His photos went beyond what we expected and he completely understood what style we were going with. He was happy to get all the important shots, but I really loved how beautifully he captured so many candid moments. He also had our photos ready so quickly; We got to glance at some while enjoying our honeymoon. Everyone at our wedding felt comfortable with him. We’re so happy with how all the photos came out, that my maid of honor is gonna hire him for her wedding next spring! Thank you, Traven!
