Compass Point Event is a nestled in Algiers on the west bank of the Mississippi over looking downtown and French Quarter. Its a lovely venue consisting of multiple shotgun New Orleans style homes circled on a piece of property. It creates a perfect space for weddings. The outdoor are is perfect for large ceremonies and receptions. There's a larger house as well that can work for smaller ceremonies and receptions as well. You can stay over night in the homes too!

One of the reasons I love this venue so much is personal. My dad worked on this property for about 25 years—back when it was Compass Marine, a towboat company, long before it became a wedding venue. The buildings here used to be offices, but what’s really interesting is that they’re actually old homes that were moved onto the property from nearby areas.
I remember being there as a kid. My dad even helped sand the floors in one of the buildings. So coming back now as a New Orleans wedding photographer, it feels a little full circle.
The owners of Compass Point Events did an amazing job transforming the space. It’s one of those venues that just works on so many levels. There are great spots for portraits all over the property, plenty of room to move, and it fits the flow of New Orleans weddings really naturally.
You can second line through the neighborhood, you’ve got flexibility if the weather shifts, and you can even stay on-site. From a New Orleans wedding photography perspective, it gives you a lot to work with without feeling complicated.
It’s just a really solid spot for a wedding. One of my favorites.
