There’s something special about photographing any wedding, but this one was a true honor—because it was for a fellow photographer. When another photographer asks you to capture their day, it feels like the ultimate compliment. Skill recognizes skill, right?

This wedding took place at Capulet, one of my favorite spots in the Bywater. Capulet is a modern New Orleans venue known for its airy reception space and an incredible rooftop that overlooks the neighborhood. It’s got this industrial charm but with plenty of natural light, and it’s such a perfect fit for couples who want a wedding that feels both stylish and rooted in the city.

We kicked things off right at Capulet, since the couple didn’t want any pre-ceremony “getting ready” photos. Instead, we went straight into portraits, which is always fun because it means the couple can just relax into the day together. A friend who happens to be a pedicab driver came by to scoop them up, and he whisked us off to Clouet Gardens—just around the corner—for some portraits. From there, we wandered to the church next door, and then up to Capulet’s rooftop for more photos. Before the ceremony, they also signed the ketubah, which was beautiful and intimate.

One of the coolest parts for me personally? The groom handed me his Leica M6 to shoot with during the day. For anyone who doesn’t know, the Leica M6 is a legendary 35mm film camera—it’s old school, it’s elegant, and it was an absolute blast to capture a few moments on film during the wedding. As someone who loves experimenting with different mediums, it felt like such a gift to get to use it.

The ceremony was held on Capulet’s rooftop. The weather showed up for them that day—sunny skies, warmth, and just the right amount of breeze. Friends and family held the chuppah during the vows, which made for some beautiful compositions. And in one of the most fun twists, the couple hid their rings under chairs in the audience, making guests scramble to find them before the exchange. It was such a playful way to pull everyone into the moment.

After the ceremony, we rolled straight into a second line around the Bywater—because what’s a New Orleans wedding without brass, dancing, and joy spilling into the streets? Then it was back to Capulet for a reception that had everything: heartfelt speeches, incredible energy, and the kind of dancing that makes you want to jump right into the crowd with your camera. My personal favorite moment? The hora dance—pure joy, with everyone lifting the couple high in the air, smiles everywhere.

Being a New Orleans wedding photographer, I’ve seen so many different styles of weddings, but this one stood out for its creativity, love, and fun. Capulet was the perfect venue for the day, the second line was unforgettable, and the way the couple made the ceremony and reception uniquely their own was just so them.

If you’re dreaming of a celebration that feels true to you, that’s the beauty of New Orleans weddings—there’s no one way to do it. Whether it’s rooftop vows, hidden rings, or dancing the night away in true New Orleans style, I’d love to be the wedding photographer in New Orleans who helps tell your story.

This wedding is a reminder of why I love New Orleans wedding photography —because it’s about real people, real joy, and those fleeting, unscripted moments that mean everything.
