New Orleans Wedding at Capulet

Capulet is one of those New Orleans wedding venues that feels equal parts relaxed and refined. It’s a Bywater spot tucked into an old warehouse with modern details, a rooftop for ceremonies, and an airy reception hall that transforms beautifully for weddings. It’s versatile, stylish, and always buzzing with good energy.

For this wedding, the couple decided to skip pre-ceremony photos. No getting-ready shots, no staged moments — they wanted the focus on the fun and the candid energy of the day. That kind of approach always makes me happy as a New Orleans wedding photographer because it puts the emphasis right where it belongs: real moments with real people.

The ceremony was planned for the rooftop, but the rain came through. Luckily, Capulet has a great backup plan with their reception area. The space was glowing with energy and emotion, and the ceremony still felt intimate and personal. You could feel how much love was in the room.

From there, the reception kicked off with a lively cocktail hour. Guests filled the space with laughter, then rolled right into speeches that were equal parts hilarious and heartfelt. The dancing didn’t stop once it started. It was one of those nights where everyone was completely in the moment — a true reflection of why I love documenting New Orleans weddings.

Capulet is a beautiful venue, but not the easiest to photograph if you don’t know your way around lighting. As a wedding photographer in New Orleans, I’ve spent years using flash, especially off-camera flash, to balance the space and keep everything looking natural. Almost every image from this wedding was shot with that setup, and it really brought out the warmth and joy of the night.

This wedding had everything I love about New Orleans wedding photography — a couple who was fully present, guests who knew how to celebrate, and a venue that matched the energy of the day.
