A welcome party at The Ruby Slipper Cafe in the Marigny. Masquerade theme. Masks, dancing, drinks, people already in celebration mode. It didn’t feel like a warm-up—it felt like the wedding had already started.
That energy carried right into the next day.
The wedding took place at Maison Dupuy Hotel, right in the French Quarter. It’s one of those classic New Orleans wedding venues—private courtyard, iron balconies, a mix of historic charm and plenty of space to let everything flow. As a New Orleans wedding photographer, it’s a great spot because everything is close together. Getting ready, portraits, ceremony, reception—it all connects, which keeps the day moving naturally and makes New Orleans wedding photography feel seamless.
We started in the back carriage house.
It has its own courtyard, tucked away and quiet. Perfect place for the bride to get ready. Good light, calm energy, a little separation from everything else going on. While I was with the bride, the groom was getting ready at a separate location.
He has Lebanese heritage, and there was a tradition they did while he was getting ready. One of those moments that’s layered with meaning, family, culture.
Once everyone was ready, we met back at the hotel courtyard for the first look. Then straight into family photos. Keeping it moving, keeping it easy. From there, into the ceremony.
The ceremony was beautiful and really personal. Two family friends officiated, which always adds something different. You can feel it—it’s not scripted in the same way. It feels more connected.
After the ceremony, we stepped out into the street for a second line with Hundreds Brass Band.
That shift never gets old. One minute it’s ceremony, the next it’s a full parade. Music, dancing, people filling the street. It’s one of those moments that defines New Orleans wedding photography.
Then back to the reception. And it stayed fun. People dancing, laughing, fully in it. No drop in energy. Just a good crowd, a great couple, and a full weekend that built up to it.
As a wedding photographer in New Orleans, these are the weddings that stick with me. Not just the day itself, but the lead-up. The people. The way everything connects.
