Audubon Tea Room Wedding | A Rainy Day That Turned Into Something Special

The Audubon Tea Room is one of those venues that really does it all. Tucked inside Audubon Park, surrounded by greenery, but with a big open interior that can handle whatever the day throws at it. Which, on this day, was rain.
We started over at Hotel Fontenot. A storm had rolled in early, so plans shifted right away. Instead of an outdoor first look, we kept everything inside. First look. Family portraits. Simple. Easy. No stress. Everyone just rolled with it.
From there we headed to the Tea Room.
The rain stuck around, so the ceremony moved indoors. And honestly, it worked. It worked really well. The space is large, clean, and full of soft light. It didn’t feel like a backup plan. It felt intentional.
One of my favorite moments—zoo staff still brought out animals for photos. In the rain. Which was kind of amazing. The turtle was easily the chillest one there. Completely unbothered.
The ceremony was personal and focused. People were present. That’s always what stands out to me the most during New Orleans weddings—the moments where everything else fades out a bit and you can feel the love.
Afterwards, we moved straight into the reception. No pause. Just a steady build of energy.
NOLA Dukes kicked things off and the dance floor stayed full. The kind of night where no one really needs convincing to get out there.
At the same time, Kelly Boyett was working on a live painting of the scene. Watching that come together in real time is always something special—another way of documenting the same moments, just slower and more deliberate.
Food was handled by Dickie Brennan & Co. Catering. Classic New Orleans. Done right.
That’s the thing about being a New Orleans wedding photographer. You can plan all you want, but the best parts of the day usually live somewhere in the unexpected. The weather shifts, timelines move, and somehow it all still comes together.
If you’re planning New Orleans weddings, this is what it can look like. Real moments. A little chaos. A lot of joy. And a reminder that New Orleans wedding photography isn’t about perfect conditions—it’s about what actually happens.
If you’re looking for a wedding photographer in New Orleans, this is the kind of day I love to be a part of.
