A French Quarter Wedding at Bevolo Lighting

Bevolo Lighting is an amazing place for a New Orleans wedding. The brick walls, copper lanterns, and historic character give the space plenty of personality. It's also a great option for couples who want to have their ceremony and reception in one place. The lighting is phenomenal to but not for what you would think. There is really cool gas lanterns everywhere but that not what makes the light so great. In there main front room the ceilings are perfect for a photography technique called bounce flash. Theres rafters in the ceiling and when bouncing the light of the ceiling through them it gives a really directional unique look when using bounce flash.

At this wedding we started the day with portraits at Bevolo, then walked outside to Exchange Place, a little alleyway right behind the venue. It's one of my favorite things about the location. You get a great French Quarter backdrop just steps away, without having to travel to certain spots in the French Quarter for portraits.

After the portraits came the ceremony, followed by a second line through the streets of New Orleans. Then everyone headed back for a very fun reception.

What makes bevolo lighting such a great venue is its flexibility. This wedding was photographed inside the front area of the venue, which they then flipped for the reception durring the second line. The back are of the venue was used for the catering area, and the courtyard was setup as a lounge area. Truly a great venue.

One of the things I love about New Orleans weddings is the second line. The city becomes part of the celebration, from the historic streets to the music and the second line. As a New Orleans wedding photographer, I love days like this that bring together a great location, a great vibe, and plenty of real moments to photograph. It's a perfect example of what makes wedding photography in the French Quarter so fun to me.
