There’s something special about New Orleans weddings that happen outside the city—where the energy of New Orleans meets the quiet charm of the Louisiana countryside. This one took place at the bride’s family home just outside of New Orleans, a beautiful space with a ranch next door that gave us endless opportunities for portraits. As a New Orleans wedding photographer, I love when a couple gives me the time and freedom to really explore a location. The bride booked me for my 8-hour package, which meant we could slow down, walk the land, and create portraits that told the full story of her day.

We started with getting-ready shots inside the home before stepping out into the wide-open space of the ranch. Having horses as part of the backdrop was incredible—it added such a natural, elegant touch to the portraits. There’s something about pairing a bride in her dress with that raw, country landscape that makes the images timeless. That’s what I love about being a wedding photographer in New Orleans—you never know if the day is going to take you into the French Quarter, onto a rooftop, or, in this case, into a ranch at sunset.

The ceremony was set outdoors, simple and heartfelt, surrounded by friends and family. The reception flowed right out front, with great food, laughter, and plenty of dancing. This is where New Orleans wedding photography shines best—capturing people fully in the moment, celebrating without worry, and leaning into the joy of the day.

And then came the grand finale. A sparkler exit is always fun, but this couple added fireworks to the mix. I’ll be honest—I was a little nervous about nailing that shot. Fireworks are unpredictable, and lining up the couple, the light, and the timing isn’t always easy. But with some planning, and leaning on years of experience, I was able to capture it perfectly. The result was one of my favorite images from the night—a kiss under the sparks and light.

This wedding was a reminder of why I love being part of New Orleans weddings. Every story is different, every space has its own personality, and every couple gives me something new to capture.
